Parker from the Archive here.

We are huge fans of open source. Wherever possible we use open source tools, and strongly agree with the statements you've made above with respect to the value of open sourcing code. In fact, one of our biggest successes here has been Heritrix, our open source web crawler.

We're hoping one day our storage and website code can be open sourced so that the community can contribute there as well, but we're not quite there yet. For now, if there is something in particular you'd like to fix/improve/know about you can email me, I'm just parker @ you can guess the domain.
